Embarking on an energizing new olfactory journey across waters
An ode to the blue of nature, Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue celebrates the Maison’s connection with nature, and the distinctive citrus, woody and marine notes of the fragrance reflect it. Three world travellers and exceptionally talented noses – Givaudan’s Jordi Fernandez , Olivier Pescheux, and Antoine Maisondieu – have come together to develop an original scent fit for today’s explorer, one that awakens a desire to discover nature’s palette of blues: sky, lakes and mountains.
The top notes of Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue can be described as a luminous and zesty fusion of Italian bergamot and citrus of the finest quality, with the addition of a touch of pink peppercorn to deliver a fresh spicy note with woody facets reminiscent of pepper and elemi. Marine accord is the beating heart of the fragrance. The blue aquatic depth that comes from fusing citrus with the marine and airy notes evokes the freshness of Alpine landscapes, with the subtle hint of a sea breeze. The fresh, iodine, watery, salty and airy notes contrast with grey amber notes. One final stop on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia delivers the base notes that define the structure of Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue. A singular patchouli of the finest quality has been exclusively crafted for Montblanc. Cleared from the usual dark earth facets it naturally comes with, this patchouli is then masterfully combined with refined woods giving it an earthy and rich base, with leathery facets.
Exploration is about uncovering the finest ingredients and skills, and bringing them together to create something new. Intense, infinite and fresh, the Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue journey doesn’t end with the fragrance.
A fragrance bottled up with all the artistry and fine craftsmanship of Montblanc
It continues with the design of the ingenious bottle that holds it, leaning into the Maison’s long tradition of fine European craftsmanship with stops in Germany, Italy and France. Assembled by hand in the Maison’s Pelleteria in Florence, the bottle’s Ultra Blue leather-like protective sheath is printed with the elegant Saffiano motif used on Montblanc leather creations since 1926, and decorated with the Montblanc emblem crafted in Montblanc’s Hamburg manufacture. The polished white metal engineering gear cap on the bottle is elegantly engraved with “Montblanc Explorer”. With the greatest care and attention to detail in design and quality, the bottle’s thick glass base reveals the iconic Montblanc star representing the six glacial slopes creating the snowy peak of the mountain. Because Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue was conceived as a fragrance for adventurers, not just inspired by the spirit of adventure, the fragrance also comes in a 30ml travel bottle, a convenient size that allows the explorer to bring his perfume everywhere he goes.

A feminine fragrance full of contrasts
Created by the talented perfumers Guillaume Flavigny and Natalie Gracia-Cetto, Signature intermingles the sensuality of an enveloping vanilla with a contrasting “clean” facet of musks, creating an addictive, chic, deliciously feminine trail. “With this appeal and elegance, I wanted to infuse more light, more breath and transparency”, explains Natalie Gracia-Cetto. This floral-oriental-musky fragrance first seduces with its luminous clarity. The crystal-clear whiteness of musks in the base notes encounters a breath of floral peony, zested by sparkling clementine in the top notes. On the skin, the juice quickly reveals a more enigmatic and captivating facet. A voluptuous oriental vanilla rises majestically, escorted by an enchanting magnolia and sunny ylang-ylang middle note. Finally, an amber accord snuggled inside creamy benzoin provides the perfume’s soft and sensual side.

The bottle, a natural choice.
Perfectly echoing this precious perfume, the opalescent bottle is a tribute to the iconic inkwell, part of Montblanc’s heritage. Designed by the Maison’s own Mark Eisen, the white lacquering on the inside brings out its shine, without showing how much juice is in the bottle. Its faceted appearance changes with the light and time of day. The golden details, borrowed from the iconic “Meisterstück” writing instrument, underline the elegance of the object. Just like the pen cap, the bottle is crowned with the star-shaped emblem. This star of gold showcases the bottle’s femininity. To begin writing the day’s new chapter, simply open the bottle.
The light grey Saffiano motif that has been used on Montblanc creations since 1926, is also printed on the fragrance’s elegant packaging. The name of the perfume appears handwritten in calligraphy, and recalls the power of words, emphasising that just like people, each writing style is unique.

Unparalleled communication
Captured through the lens of Cédric Bihr, a photographer with a degree in neuroscience who specialises in celebrity portraits, this is the first time a writer has been featured in a campaign. On the terrace at the Café de Flore, the legendary brasserie frequented by existentialists, she is trying to find inspiration for her next novel, jotting down her ideas in a notebook with a white Meisterstück. Looking into the distance, she lets her thoughts wander to the future, perhaps noticing a detail in the gait of a passer-by, a snippet of a conversation or a new idea that she will use in her writing. Her next story is already being written…
To embody this woman of character, the charismatic French essayist Diane Ducret was a natural choice. This powerful woman overcame her injuries and made them into strengths. She recovered from a serious horse-riding accident by writing, using it as therapy to reconnect with the world. Women are her main sources of inspiration and her most respected bestsellers, such as Femmes de Dictateur and La Chair Interdite, describe women through their complexity and strength of character.
“I like that we are using a writer to craft a fragrance. I think there’s something quite poetic about it, I really like the idea, she says. “Fragrance plays a huge role in my life. As an accessory, obviously, as well as a work of art, not to mention a source of inspiration. When we write, we have a kind of curiosity, an openness to the world and senses constantly on the alert. I think smell is such a powerful sense, linked to faith of the heart, intelligence, skin… Ultimately, it connects all the other human perceptions.” And when asked to define a scent, she answers, “It’s a bit like a book. It’s like being an alchemist of elements, pulling together different scents, words that seem disparate, words of anger, love, the warm and the cold, and making something harmonious. Stronger and surprising scents can sometimes overwhelm us. In my mind, there are many similarities between fragrance and books.”

These forward-thinking craftspeople have cultivated a quality that is essential in the eyes of every pioneer: reliability.
Montblanc shares the same values as explorers, such as the relentless quest for excellence. Climbing summits, challenging conventions and exploring the four corners of the globe. From South Africa to Haiti, Italy, Germany or Indonesia; Montblanc EXPLORER invites explorers on a fantastic journey, giving them the opportunity to discover the rarest ingredients and manufacturing methods that combine craftsmanship with the latest technology.
An olfactory travel diary
To create Montblanc EXPLORER, three outstanding talents from Givaudan have combined their expertise: Jordi Fernandez, Antoine Maisondieu and Olivier Pescheux. Each of them brought their own knowledge of a specific ingredient and their emotional experience, both as a nose and a traveller, to this unique collaborative project. Together they have created an innovative olfactory pyramid, an invitation to embark on a real expedition to discover the most precious scents.
They developed their own travel diary to create this extraordinary new fragrance: Bergamot from Italy, Vetiver from Haiti and Patchouli from Indonesia, turning Montblanc EXPLORER into an invitation to travel the world. Combining contemporary craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, Montblanc EXPLORER takes you on an unforgettable journey to virgin territories with an unconventional woody-aromatic-leather fragrance.
The top note bursts with effusive Bergamot from Italy, revealing the bright, energetic and optimistic side of the fragrance’s heart. Called OrPur®, this particular bergamot explodes with floral, green, and intensely fresh notes creating the sudden desire to travel South.
“I find this ingredient particularly luminous, like a young Mediterranean boy bursting with laughter: pure and eminently elegant,” says Antoine Maisondieu, who is a great fan of this citrus fruit. “Bergamot is also an icon of Calabria and symbolises the light of this region. We wanted to infuse Montblanc EXPLORER with this unique atmosphere, synonymous with joy, light and refinement.” This bergamot is paired with the masculine notes of French OrPur® Clary Sage and spicy OrPur® Pink Pepper to initiate a dialogue full of character.
The heart note of this journey takes us to the most remote part of Haiti: in the extreme south-west of the island, in the region of Les Cayes, where the most refined vetiver is organically and ethically produced. Celebrated by perfumers all over the world, Haiti’s vetiver oil is comparable to no other, thanks to its smoky hues and its slight overtone evoking hazelnut. OrPur® Vetiver, exclusive to this specific region of the island also proudly affirms its masculinity, while keeping its natural character thanks to a unique steam distillation process. Pure charisma needs no artifice.
“I love the fact that it takes time to truly understand all the richness of vetiver,” explains Olivier Pescheux. “It’s not a common or easy-to-access smell. It’s authentic, raw and earthy. Vetiver is a root with strong masculine accents: the combination of complexity and roughness gives it real virility.” Associated with leather – reminiscent of the adventurer’s iconic jacket – it evokes a unique persona, the effortless elegance of men who always aim for the top.
A final stopover takes us to Indonesia, east of Borneo, in the heart of the rainforest, more specifically on the island of Sulawesi to discover a new type of patchouli of unparalleled quality. This patchouli has been developed exclusively for Montblanc fragrances. Sharp, modern and naturally elegant, Montblanc EXPLORER is created around this new and bewitching woody structure. “Patchouli is often at the centre of my creations, as it brings a rich and complex character to the perfume, it is the beating heart of the fragrance,” explains Jordi Fernandez. “This incredible custom-made patchouli gives a unique olfactory dimension to our palette. I used it in Montblanc EXPLORER to bring its iconic signature to it. It enhances the leather and cocoa notes of the composition, without showing its earthy facet.” As textured as it is explosive and deep, it is nuanced in the composition by amber-like touches of Ambrofix™, an exclusive molecule that gradually brings warmth to the fragrance. These innovative base notes transport our elegant explorer into an eminently sensual world, ready for any adventure.
A design of sartorial elegance
The journey continues in Europe, exploring the expertise and heritage of the Maison Montblanc: first Hamburg, its historic starting point, then Montblanc EXPLORER makes a stopover in Florence, the iconic luxury destination. This unique fragrance required an exceptional setting and each detail recalls Montblanc’s quest for excellence.
This leather-like protective sheath enveloping the bottle is printed with the elegant Saffiano motif used on Montblanc creations since 1926 and decorated with the Montblanc emblem in a shiny finish. The signature star that adorns all the Maison’s leather goods is made exclusively in Hamburg. The sleeve and emblem are assembled by hand at the Montblanc Pelleteria in Florence, the exclusive workshop in which Montblanc’s most beautiful leather designs are crafted. Montblanc EXPLORER thus takes pride of place as a new exceptional accessory alongside the Maison’s iconic pens.
The bottle itself echoes the earth’s two hemispheres, recalling the multiple destinations explored during this olfactory expedition. Made of thick glass, its spherical shape evokes timeless solidity. At the bottom, like a mythical treasure, lies Montblanc’s emblem, the iconic star representing the six glaciers of the highest mountain in Europe.
With its elongated shape specially designed for travelling, the 30ml* bottle – the travellers’ favourite – stands out in the collection.
The ‘gun barrel’ colour, modern design and weight of the cap evoke the safety nut of beautiful vintage cars. Engraved with a Montblanc star, this cap with masculine lines sums up the affirmed virility of the fragrance.
Made in France with a refined sleek design in shades of grey, the box perfectly matches the design of the bottle, with its sheath decorated with the iconic Saffiano motif. A socio-environmental manufacturing process
Both exceptional and exclusive, the main ingredients of Montblanc EXPLORER come from Givaudan’s Sourcing for Shared Value program. The famous perfume house has identified several ingredients essential to perfumery – such as vetiver or patchouli – and supports local producers in embracing ethical and sustainable development. This ethical commitment is perfectly in line with the philosophy of Montblanc EXPLORER where travel goes hand in hand with making the world a better place to create a brighter future. This support to local communities is also reflected in educative initiatives for future generations, such as the construction of three libraries for school children in the regions of Buton and Katoi on the island of Sulawesi.
With the Givaudan Foundation, INTERPARFUMS has contributed to the construction of 3 libraries and currently provides 489 school children and their 33 teachers easier access to culture and reading. 3,650 books have been bought to stock the shelves of the new libraries.

The fragrance
The pastel green juice of Montblanc Lady Emblem L’Eau was inspired by a summer garden, “an allegory of a poetic walk in the summertime through a garden of citrus trees and fresh roses,” confides Sonia Constant, who created the fragrance.
This exquisite, meandering olfactory stroll begins with fruity accents: mandarin leaf, and the aquatic-sweet notes of white peach and exotic lychee. In the middle notes, a voluptuous bouquet of roses, the ever-present scent guiding the success story of Lady Emblem, enhances the aerial florality of magnolia. Sonia Constant essentially captured the green, fresher aspect of the rose to emphasize the lightness of the composition. Precious musks, elegant blonde cedar, and creamy benzoin form the base notes. It is a story of sparkling water, a lyrical floral-aquatic, for a woman as delicate as she is strong.
The bottle
Refined and feminine, the bottle that holds Lady Emblem L’Eau symbolises the diamond, “a girl’s best friend”. More specifically, it symbolises the Montblanc diamond, an exclusive, star-shaped stone with 43 facets that holds the emblem of the Maison at heart. It is precious both in shape and in the details. The brilliant gem is housed in a luxurious case made of textured paper, in a similar shade as the perfume – a light, pastel green – sealed with the famous Montblanc emblem.
The campaign
The campaign once again features French model Leslie Masson. Shot by Crédric Bihr in the Jardin des Tuileries, the quintessence of French-style gardens, the visual captures that moment of grace when a dazzling woman relaxes beside a fountain in a cool, peaceful park. It is a stolen moment, a breath of fresh air for her alone, in the bustle of a hectic day. She glows with tranquil serenity and self-assurance. Fearlessly, she stares straight into the photographer’s lens. She captures the eye with her naturally fascinating presence, appearing in colour for the first time.

The Fragrance
Inspired by all forms and shades of white, from snow to marble, the two master perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp found a perfect composition to create a fresh, virile and intense fragrance as breathtaking as a resplendent landscape.
The brand new olfactory pyramid of this fresh woody aromatic fragrance is made of exceptional ingredients. The sparkling top notes of pink peppercorn, bitter grapefruit and transparent zesty bergamot are immediately unleashed. Its powerfully aromatic heart beats wildly, thanks to intense lavender, hypnotic cardamom and an invigorating aquatic accord. White woods – sandalwood, cedar and cashmere – sensually blend with oak moss, the unique signature scent of Montblanc Legend, creating enveloping and authentic base notes, softened with a cocktail of white musks.
The scent heats up on the skin, vibrates in contact with the air and draws strength as it releases an unmistakable sillage.
Dare to Defy Convention
With a characteristically healthy dose of rebelliousness and audacity, the Montblanc Legend Spirit man has an appetite for creative contrasts. Although the black and white Montblanc codes as well as the Montblanc Legend bottle’s original curvaceous shape are preserved, Montblanc Legend Spirit stands out thanks to its radically modern aesthetic of immaculate glossy white lacquer and tempered steel. It is a beautifully designed accessory that also matches other travel companions of the Maison such as the ‘White Meisterstück Solitaire’ writing instrument, a stylish and functional object for today’s modern urban life.
The Montblanc signature is featured on the metallic upper part of the bottle, as well as on the lid and the name also appears on the bottle. The three metallic rings, a symbol found on Montblanc writing instruments, are featured at the base of the packaging, while the distinguished Montblanc emblem appears in contrast over the shiny white background.

In 2015, this timeless masculine saga continued with Montblanc Legend Spirit, a fresh and bold version of the fragrance.
Echoing this record of excellence, the third olfactory chapter now reveals an equally charismatic, but more mysterious side to the extraordinary gentleman. This new timeless fragrance emphasizes the nocturnal aspect of his personality. Its name is Montblanc Legend Night.

This new story features the same man, in a more intimate setting. It is early evening and he has just joined his friends in his favourite club; an inner circle of English gentlemen in London, or a charity gala in Hong Kong. Fragrance
Montblanc Legend Night paints a top-flight olfactory picture with remarkable contrasts of light and shadow.
Designed by the talented duo Antoine Maisondieu and Olivier Pescheux who set out to reveal “the charisma of the wearer”, this juice is a magnetic woody fragrance, ultra-masculine yet free from aggression.
Mysterious. And reassuring. The Eau de Parfum brings out the elegance and aura of the Legend Night man.
The aromatic notes of clary sage and peppermint, enhanced with cool spices (cardamom) and sparkling bergamot, set the fragrance’s fresh and lively tone. The opening is bright, like the natural radiance of our man’s aura.
The middle notes immediately counterbalance this first impression of refreshing coolness with their warm elegance. The precious scents of cedar wood blend well with the floral lavender tones, a classic in men’s fragrances, and slightly powdered violet.
“In the base notes, we wanted a strong and memorable signature, full of contrasts,” explain the two noses. “On one side some dense and vibrant woods with a duo of Vetiver and Patchouli Wood, and on the other, the enveloping depth of Musk and velvety black Vanilla.”
The signature counter-accord brings out the distinctive character of the Montblanc man through light and shade.
Noble material
The aesthetics of the Montblanc Legend Night bottle break with the duality of the house’s black and white codes, clearing the path for an amber colour that is reminiscent of wood, the ultimate authentic material or a fiery liquor.
Embossed with relief on the upper part of the bottle and on its stopper, the emblem inspired by the snow-capped Mont Blanc and the symbol of the highest standards of quality and perfection is engraved in the black metal.
The box, in the same cognac tones, is reminiscent of an inlaid keepsake box where our man stores his treasured possessions. Its deep metallic reflections capture the light. The name appears in elegant gold calligraphy.
A friendly gent
The English model Simon Clark embodies the Montblanc man yet again. Photographed by John Balsom, who has a gift for revealing a personality, he looks right into the lens for the very first time. The eye-to-eye contact, made in natural light, presents Simon Clark just as he is. His innate virility sets the scene ablaze. He is instantly captivating. One thing is certain: she is undeniably feminine, eschews ostentation and possesses beauty and a distinctive sense of style.
The new fragrance LADY EMBLEM has the exceptional rose sake which is obtained through highly sophisticated distillation to maintain refinement, naturalness and grace. The sake note has the fresh, crystalline zing of the finest rice spirit. There is a slightly metallic hint of litchi and cut grass. The Japanese call this “Nihonshu”. Pink peppercorn is a spicy head note, complementary to pink grapefruit. The two blend like a diamond whose brilliance pierces the thousand facets and dazzles, inducing dreams. To bring out the rose, jasminum sambac from China provides the feeling of real petals and exquisite pomegranate, as juicy as it is fragrant, makes the heart race. Powdery, velvety sandalwood provides amber tones from the bottom to the top, and crystals of musk gently emerge.
