New York, New York (January 2019) – Abercrombie & Fitch is pleased to announce the launch of its new fragrance, AUTHENTIC. Inspired by a generation of free thinkers who are challenging convention by choosing freedom over appearances, diversity over exclusion and transparency over fakery, AUTHENTIC captures the confidence and excitement of a global movement.
Just like the 127 year old Abercrombie & Fitch brand, AUTHENTIC is reminiscent of quality that never restricts. Like a hoodie or pair of jeans, AUTHENTIC works like a second skin, serving the wearer with the comfort and confidence to be unapologetically themselves.
AUTHENTIC fragrances for men and women will be available in select locations worldwide beginning May 2019.

THE BOTTLE
Exclusively designed for Abercrombie & Fitch, the sleek fragrance bottles are constructed of a heavy glass and feature a magnetic metal cap that is complimented with a hand applied fabric label bearing the classic A&F logo. This unique interplay of textures speaks to the brand’s heritage of expertly crafted products with effortless style, an AUTHENTIC balance of timeless heritage with a contemporary attitude.
THE FRAGRANCES
Master perfumer Clement Gavarry of Firmenich describes the olfactive concept behind both his creations for men and women as “something timeless with fresh and comfortable notes”. Inspired by the highly perceptive values of young adults today, he added a twist that makes AUTHENTIC unconventional. Using only genuine ingredients, both juices begin with refreshing citrus notes and a surprise of a warm woody trail. The result is an expressive, second skin that is truthful, real and AUTHENTIC.
AUTHENTIC FOR MEN
AUTHENTIC for Men is freshness with a twist. It highlights the originality of the wearer, it is raw, timeless and memorable.
Top: a refreshing tonic of Grapefruit and Bergamot, seasoned by crushed Black Pepper that sets up a clean and welcoming creation. Heart: exciting drops of warm natural Ginger Oil, amplified by Clary Sage and Lavender intensify the fluid aromatic freshness at the heart. AUTHENTIC FOR WOMEN
AUTHENTIC for Women is freshness for the young woman who thrives on transparency, and wants to be known for her true self. Individual and fearlessly expressive, AUTHENTIC is confident and honest.
Top: a mouth-watering combination of dewy Pear, Mandarin and Red Currant creates immediate refreshing first impression. Heart: fresh blossoms of Magnolia and Muguet are further opened with Nectarine, adding spontaneity and femininity to the heart of the fragrance. THE CAMPAIGN
A raw, unretouched B&W portrait features a young man and woman who represent the new generation. Relevant, modern and real, nothing is artificial or forced. Following the successful introduction of First Instinct Women’s in 2017, Abercrombie & Fitch is pleased to announce the launch of First Instinct Blue Women, a new fragrance for women developed exclusively with Inter Parfums.
The concept
‘First Instinct Blue Women’ captures the brilliant personality of those who know how to make their dreams come true. These vibrant women would always see blue in the sky, no matter what.
The woman
Like the Abercrombie & Fitch woman, she is spirited– and bright. She has the beautiful energy to live for the moment and always embraces her First Instinct.
The packaging
“I was inspired by a soft shape that curls up in the hand, and envisioned the bottle to be multi-sensorial”, says Fabrice Legros (Studio Pi) of his original design for First Instinct Women. In its light blue interpretation, the bottle feels fresh and shimmering, its feminine curves look even more organic, while the logo plaque takes you back to the A&F stores around the world.
The juice
Perfumer Gabriela Chelariu (FIRMENICH) found her inspiration in the very essence of the brand: “The name Abercrombie & Fitch instantly brought me to the adventure of the outdoors, and the morning blue skies and waters.” She translated her idea of an effortlessly feminine and naturally fresh fragrance by building upon “the contrast between a shimmering accord of Salted Sea Air and Fruits and a Sensual Sandalwood trail.” The composition expresses a woman’s lust for life in a modern yet timeless manner.

Top: A shimmering accord of refreshing Salted Sea Air and Crisp Bergamot breathes energy into luscious Blackberries. An opening as fresh as a morning sky.

In the wake of First Instinct in 2016, Abercrombie & Fitch is pleased to announce the launch of ‘First Instinct Blue’, a new fragrance for men developed exclusively with Inter Parfums.
The concept
‘First Instinct Blue’ is inspired by that exhilarating moment, when a man’s lust for adventure takes over and he’s ready to make his dreams come true. It is the fragrant interpretation of the feeling that the sky’s the limit.
The man
Like the Abercrombie & Fitch man, he is bold, confident and effortlessly stylish. With h4-Aug-17is free-spirited and fearless lifestyle, he knows how to live by his First Instinct.
The packaging
A new iteration of the original design from Fabrice Legros (Studio Pi) for First Instinct, the bottle is “based on a rectangular structure […] and inspired by that magical moment when you get butterflies in your stomach.” Its dark blue glass adds an element of fascination to its sensational rippling surface, while the logo side plaque transports you to the A&F stores around the world.
The juice
“I wanted to craft a juice that would merge the brand’s core values with the color Blue” says Master Perfumer Yves Cassar (IFF). “Associations of thrilling freshness highlighted with spice, and balanced by the deeper hued, substantive power of addictive amber.” “It is a very distinctive scent because of the way its freshness works – deeper, and in a truly addictive fashion. This scent is fresh, but never ever cold or distant.”
Fragrance Family: Fresh Fougere
‘First Instinct Blue’; bold and unexpected, blended for the man who lives by his first instinct.
Top: The thrilling freshness of Frozen Apple is invigorated by Juicy Bergamot and flavored by Aromatic Cardamom. An energetic opening that gives an exciting first impression.
Mid: Crisp Lavender under the sun creates a warm clash, enhanced by a comforting mix of rosemary and pepper. The original freshness is highlighted by this unexpected spicy development.
Base: Addictive amber, supported by memorable Tonka and rich Sandalwood, leaves a warmer trail of deeper and more spiritual tones. A man who lives by his First Instinct will always return to it.

The packaging
Developed by Fabrice Legros (Studio Pi), the design is “based upon a rectangular construction, yet with roundness that conveys femininity.” Its clear glass undulating surface is a sensual invitation, while its light pink metal cap and plaque convey its Abercrombie & Fitch undeniable pedigree.
The juice
“I feel that First Instinct for Women is at once playful, feminine, and alluring says master perfumer Laurent le Guernec (IFF). “With a sensual opening, a sparkling development and a trail of irresistible yet effortless seduction, this formula was crafted to ensure captivation.”

Top: Sun-kissed Magnolia blooms coupled with uplifting Grapefruit Zest awaken the senses, while Passion Fruit adds a sweet dewy brightness. At once a sophisticated and playful opening.

Inspired by that first moment of attraction, when two people’s worlds collide and a spark is ignited, ‘First Instinct’ is the interpretation of that exciting first glance and the initial connection felt. That very moment can’t be defined in words, nor can it be anticipated.
The man who wears ‘First Instinct’ is naturally sexy, confident, and not afraid to express his deepest feelings. A rugged risk taker, he is sure to capture you with his energy and effortless charm. ‘First Instinct’ will transport the wearer and his partner back to that place when the chemistry was first felt, and their attraction first took hold.
With a base of amber and musk, Szechuan pepper in the mid- notes, and gin & tonic and melon to finish off the sensory experience in the top notes, ‘First Instinct’ is a modern masculine blend.
Rooted in Abercrombie & Fitch’s heritage, the package demonstrates an attention to detail. The clean bottle shape features a unique design element, in an undulated surface on the front and back, whilst the clear glass let’s the slate hue of the fragrance come through. The silver accents in the textured utilitarian metal cap and branded plate on one side of the bottle, give the packaging a strong style statement.
